Disturbed over falling industrial growth, slow movement of reforms, India Inc leadership convene in Kolkata under ASSOCHAM aegis

NEW DELHI ,AKASH DWIVEDI,Concerned over a deteriorating global economic situation and sharp drop in industrial production despite falling prices, India Inc ‘s top leadership is meeting in Kolkata tomorrow under the aegis of ASSOCHAM to brainstorm these issues and come out with  clear strategic inputs for the government.

“While there were concerns about slow pace of industrial growth, 4.2 per cent drop in the industrial production in October has come as a shocker of sorts for us. While we were in a party mood over declining energy prices, little did we realise that the phenomenon was a clear signal of the demand dip in most of the large economies of the world, including China, Japan , entire Europe.  Surely, our exports face a great challenge in the months ahead,” ASSOCHAM Secretary General Mr D S Rawat said.

He said the Managing Committee , the top organ of the chamber, would come up with specific suggestions for the government of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi . “While I do not want to pre-judge the deliberations, it was time some hard reality check  was done since the excitement about formation of the new government is behind us. The biggest challenge before the nation today is growth and employment generation which alone will enable us to reap dividends of the much-touted demographic advantage.”

The lone focus on the FII inflows and the Sensex would not suffice as the international capital flows can directions any time now and the rupee may come under pressure again. “We need to keep a close watch”. 

While the venue of these meetings keep changing, Kolkata is more relevant and pertinent since the industry leaders would be able to impress upon the Trinamool Congress, the Left parties and other political parties to come around and be on a common platform when it comes to crucial economic issues. 

“Some of the industry segments like consumer durables and non-durables are in real troubles.  New projects are not taking off, investment cycle is yet to revive….Cannot depend only on services to steer the growth.  The revival would require some bold measures and confidence building by the investors who would go around implementing the projects only if they see real progress on the ground. A cyclical turnaround in the energy prices alone would not help,” the chamber noted.

It said while RBI Governor Dr Raghuram Rajan has a point in seeking revival of the domestic demand, “ the ASSOCHAM would like to emphasis even if the world demand is subdued, we cannot lower guard on exports….We need to re-strategise our exports in the changing world. Concentrating on the domestic demand through Make For India and not Make in India approach would amount to looking inward.  We must continue to reach out to the rest of the world braving the headwinds,” Mr Rawat said.

Brutal murder of a young boy solved

New delhi,Akash Dwivedi,A team of PS Fatehpur Beri, South District has solved the murder case of a young boy with arrest of two accused persons namely Krishan r/o Bhati Mines, New Delhi, Pritam r/o Bhati Mines, New Delhi and apprehension of a Juvenile in conflict with law (name withheld) and weapon of offence as well as mobile phone of deceased have been recovered.

Brief facts :

On 11.12.14, a PCR call regarding recovery of a dead body was received in PS Fatehpur Beri. SHO/Fatehpur Beri along with staff reached the spot, where a human body was found lying deep inside the jungles of Bhati Mines.  Blood, hair and pieces of body parts were found around the dead body. The call was made by the brother of the deceased, who had been identified as Kuldeep, age 18 years s/o Meer Singh r/o F-182, Sanjay Colony, Bhati Mines, New Delhi.  

The brother of deceased stated that his brother had been working in Gurgaon and on 11.12.2014, when he did not return home in time, he called the deceased on his mobile at around 8.45 pm.  The deceased Kuldeep informed him that he was near Dera More and would be late but when he did not return till next morning and they started searching him and in the process, they saw his dead body in the jungle. Deceased’s motorcycle was also found near the spot. On the statement of deceased’s brother, a case vide FIR No. 647/2014 dated 11.12.14 u/s 302 IPC was registered at PS Fatehpur Beri and investigation taken up.

Investigation :

 In view of the gravity of the crime, a team comprising of SI Amit Chaudhary, SI Vikas Rana, Ct. Ranvir and Ct. Puram led by Inspr. Sukhdev Singh Maan, SHO/Fatehpur Beri under the supervision of Sh. R.K. Rathi, ACP/Mehrauli was formed to investigate the case.  During investigation, it has been revealed that mobile phone and bag of deceased were missing. The various police teams were deployed to collect local intelligence and on 12.12.14, the police team apprehended one juvenile in conflict with law (deceased’s friend) and he disclosed his involvement in the crime and at his instance, other accused namely Krishan and Pritam were arrested.

Interrogation :

During sustained interrogation, they confessed to have committed the murder of Kuldeep in the night intervening 10/11.12.14.  At their instance, knife used in commission of crime and mobile phone of deceased were recovered.  They disclosed that Kuldeep (deceased) and Juvenile in conflict with law had some differences due to their obsession towards a girl.  In order to remove Kuldeep from JCL’s path, on 11.12.2014, they called him in the jungle of Bhati Mines to consume alcohol and when Kuldeep became intoxicated, they brutally murdered him by using a knife and stone. They also crushed his face with a stone to destroy his identity. 

Recovery :

1.   Knife used in commission of crime.

2.   Mobile phone of deceased.

           Police personnel involved in the good work are being suitably rewarded.

49 दिनों के केजरी ड्रामे को यादकर दिल्ली ‘‘आप’’ के जाल में फॅसने वाली नहीं: जौली

भाजपा के तेज तर्रार नेता व पूर्व विधायक विजय जौली ने संगम विहार एम-ब्लाक में भाजपा की एक नुक्कड़ सभा में भाषण देते हुए कहा कि केजरीवाल के 49 दिनों के ड्रामे को दिल्ली की जनता कभी नहीं भूलेगी। इन ड्रामों को यादकर ‘‘आप’’ के जाॅल में दिल्ली अब फॅसने वाली नहीं है। 

वरिष्ठ भाजपा नेता जौली ने कहा कि आप सरकार के 49 दिनों के कुछ खास ड्रामें आज भी दिल्ली की जनता को परेशान करते है। ‘‘आप’’ द्वारा काॅग्रेस पार्टी के समर्थन से सरकार बनाना। केजरीवाल का बात-बात पर धरना देना। सचिवालय की छत पर चढ़कर - जनता को मूर्ख बनाना। रेल भवन पर मुख्यमंत्री रहते धरना देना। गणतंत्र दिवस की परेड को रोकने की धमकी देना।

इतना ही नहीं, इनके मंत्री सोमनाथ भारती द्वारा कानून को हाथ में लेकर, देर रात-विदेशी महिलाओं के घर में घुसना। ‘‘आप’’ पार्टी के सदस्यों द्वारा सरकारी दफ्तरों व सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर गुण्डागर्दी जैसी हरकते करना। विधानसभा सभा के अंदर मुद्दों पर चर्चा नहीं कर केवल टोपी का प्रचार करना। तथा 49 दिनों में सरकार से इस्तिफा देकर भगौड़ा साबित होना। जौली ने इस पर व्यंग करते हुए पूॅछा कि क्या यही केजरीवाल का परिक्षा फल है ?

धारा २५ को खत्म करने के लिए दुनिया भर के सिख एकजुट : सरना

शिरोमणि अकाली दल दिल्ली के प्रधान परमजीत सिंह सरना ने भारतीय संविधान में सिखों को केसाधारी हिंदू साबित करते धारा २५ को पूरी तरह खत्म करने की मांग करते हुए कहा कि दुनिया भर के सिखों की ओर से इस धारा को खत्म करवाने का विश्व सिख कांफ्रेंस दौरान प्रस्ताव भी पास किया जा चुका है।

    जारी एक ब्यान में सरना ने कहा कि धारा २५ को लेकर अकाली दल लंबे समय से मोर्चे भी लगाता आ रहा है और मास्टर तारा सिंह, संत चनण सिंह, संत फतेह सिंह और संत हरचंद सिंह लोंगोवाल के प्रधानगी के समय से ही सिख मोर्चे लगाकर इस धारा को खत्म करने की मांग करते आ रहे है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस धारा को खत्म करवाने के लिए दुनिया भर के सिख एकजुट है और विश्व स्तर पर सिख कांफ्रेंस करके इस धारा को खत्म करने की लंबे समय से मांग करते आ रहे है।उन्होंने कहा कि पंजाब की हाकम धड़े जोकि इस समय केंद्र में सरकार में भाईवाल है, को चाहिए कि वह बिना किसी देरी से प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी तक पहुंच करके इस धारा को संविधान में संशोधन करके खत्म करवाए। उन्होंने कहा कि यह तो दीवार पर लिखे सच की तरह है कि सिख एक अलग कौम व अलग धर्म है, जिसे किसी भी अन्य धर्म से जोड़ा नहीं जा सकता और दो पातशाहियां श्री गुरु अर्जुन देव और श्री गुरु तेग बहादुर साहिब की शहादते भी सिखी रिवायतों पर परंपरा को ही मुख्य करके हुई है। उन्होंने कहा कि श्री गुरु तेग बहादुर साहिब की शहादत को तो उन लोगों को भी याद रखना चाहिए, जिनकी खातिर उन्होंने शहादत देकर उनके धर्म की रक्षा की थी और नौवें पातशाह 'हिंद की चादर, श्री गुरु तेग बहादुरÓ कहलाए। उन्होंने कहा कि सिख एक अलग कौम है और अलग रहेगी और इसे किसी भी और धर्म में मिलाया नहीं जा सकता।

निगम पार्षद,  सुशील उपाध्याय ने बताया कि 3 करोड़ 61 लाख रुपये की लागत से ये तीन मंजिला विद्यालय भवन नगारिकों को 15 महिने में समर्पित किया जायेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रत्येक तल पर कक्षा कमरे, शौचालय ब्लॉक तथा स्टाफ कक्ष का निर्माण किया जायेगा।

कपकपाती ठंड ने बदला दिल्ली का मिजाज

नई दिल्ली,आकाश द्विवेदी। दिल्ली में शनिवार को पूरा दिन काफी सर्द रहा और न्यूनतम तापमान सामान्य से दो डिग्री अधिक 10.4 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया। मौसम विभाग ने भी एक, दो  दिन में हल्की बूंदाबांदी का अनुमान जताया है।कपकपाती ठंडक और  तेज हवाओं के कहर ने दिल्लीवासियों को घर से बाहर निकलने नहीं दिया। रविवार को अधिकतम तापमान 42.8 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया। आलम यह था कि जिन सड़को पर दिन में भी जाम लगा रहता था उन पर भी सन्नाटा पसरा हुआ था। । दिन में हल्की बूंदाबांदी और गरज के साथ बौछार पड़े  ।दिन का अधिकतम तापमान 19 डिग्री सेल्सियस के आसपास रहने का अनुमान है। सुबह 8.30 बजे वातावरण में 88 प्रतिशत आद्रता दर्ज की गई।

मौसम केंद्र के विज्ञानियों का कहना है कि फिलहाल बारिश की वजह से न्यूनतम तापमान में दो से तीन डिग्री सेल्सियस तक की गिरावट दर्ज की गई है। दिन में राजधानी और आसपास के इलाकों में हल्की बारिश होने से  रविवार को भी राज्य के कुछ हिस्सों में बारिश होने का अनुमान है। पश्चिमी विक्षोभ के कारण बंगाल की खाड़ी से उठने वाली हवाएं और हिमाचल पर जारी बर्फबारी का असर मैदानी इलाकों में बारिश के रूप में नजर आया।मौजूदा समय में मौसम में काफी नमी है और हवाएं भी नहीं चल रही हैं।आने वाले दिनों में तापमान में और गिर सकता हैं।मौसम के बदलते इस मिजाज के कारण स्वास्थ्य विशेषज्ञ भी चिन्तित है । विशेषज्ञों का मानना है, जाड़े से बचाव के लिए लोगों को सावधानी बरतने की जरूरत है।

मनोज तिवारी ने किया पुस्तक उत्सव का उद्घाटन

नई दिल्ली,आकाश द्विवेदी।सांसद  मनोज तिवारी ने   उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम द्वारा राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक ट्रस्ट के सहयोग से आसफ अली रोड़, महिला हाट में आयोजित पुस्तक उत्सव मेले का उद्घाटन किया। इस अवसर पर उत्तरी दिल्ली के महापौर,  योगेन्द्र चान्दोलिया, अध्यक्ष, स्थायी समिति,  मोहन प्रसाद भारद्वाज,नेता सदन, सु मीरा अग्रवाल, अन्य निगम पार्षद, आयुक्त,  प्रवीण गुप्ता, निदेशक,राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक ट्रस्ट,  एम.ए. सिकन्दर व विभिन्न विभाग के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।

        इस अवसर पर सांसद,  मनोज तिवारी ने कहा कि मेरे लिए किसी पुस्तक मेले का उद्घाटन करना एक नया अनुभव है, मैं उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम और राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक ट्रस्ट को इस तरह के अनूठे आयोजन के लिए बधाई देता हूं। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि आज इन्टरनेट पर हर तरह की जानकारी उपलब्ध है, मगर केवल पुस्तकें ही हमें सही ज्ञान दे सकती है। अतः हमें इस तरह के पुस्तक मेलों से विश्व की भिन्न भिन्न प्रकार की पुस्तकों से रूबरू होने का अवसर मिलता है।  तिवारी ने यह भी कहा कि मैं चलते-फिरते पुस्तकालय की शुरूआत करने का निवेदन करता हूं जो कि विभिन्न आयु एवं वर्ग के अनुरूप उपयुक्त स्थानों पर हो। यह प्रयास ज्ञान को मनुष्य के निकट लाने का हो। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि वे इस प्रकार के आयोजन या किसी पुस्तक के विमोचन के समय काफी अभिभूत हो जाते हैं।

                           राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक ट्रस्ट के निदेशक,  एम.ए. सिकन्दर ने बताया कि ये विश्व में पहली बार है जब किसी नगर निगम ने पुस्तक उत्सव का आयोजन किया है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक ट्रस्ट इस तरह के आयोजन से किसी तरह का मुनाफा नहीं कमाते हैं। हम आप सबको पुस्तकों से रूबरू करवाने के लिए आयें हैं।  पाठन में लोगों की रूचि बढ़ाने के लिए सदैव प्रयासरत रहते हैं।

बढ़ती ठंड में रैन बसेरा के लिए कोई ठोस इंतजाम नहीं

 नई दिल्ली,आकाश द्विवेदी।कड़कती ठंड में बेघर लोगों को बचाने के लिए दिल्ली प्रशासन के पास कोई ठोस इंतजाम नहीं है। दिसंबर माह शुरू हो जाने के बाद भी अभी रैनबसेरो की स्थिती खस्ताहाल  है। हर साल दिसंबर के महिने में जाड़े की शुरूआत में ही   प्रशासन की तरफ से रैनबसेरा को लेकर अफरातफरी मची रहती  है। रैनबसेरा के लिए समाजिक संस्थाओं से भी सहयोग मांगा जाता है,लेकिन रैन बसेरो की स्थिती में कोई सुधार नहीं हुआ है। कहीं रैन बसेरो में पानी की सुविधा नहीं ,तो कहीं लोगों के पास ओढ़ने को कम्बल नहीं है।इसके साथ ही रैन बसेरो में रहने वाले लोगों के लिए टॉयलेट वैन व मोबाईल क्लिीनिकों का भी अभाव है।

                                गौरतलब है कि दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल नजीबजंग ने सर्दियों के मौसम को देखते हुए दिल्ली में रैन बसेरों की तैयारियों के संबंध में एक समीक्षा बैठक की थी ।

                             इस बैठक में मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी, सचिव, वित, तीनों निगम आयुक्त, प्रधान आयुक्त डी.डी.ए,  पुलिस आयुक्त तथा अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।बैठक में जल बोर्ड को निर्देश दिये गये कि रैन बसेरों में पानी के टेंकर प्रतिदिन भरे जाए। बोर्ड को जहां पानी की मांग ज्यादा है वहां पानी के टेंकरों की क्षमता 500 लीटर से बढाकर 1000 लीटर  के लिए भी कहा गया था।इसके साथ सचिव, स्वास्थ्य को प्रत्येक रैन बसेरें में सप्ताह में दो बार मोबाईल क्लिीनिक भेजने के निर्देश दिए गए थे। इन मोबाईल क्लिीनिकों में पर्याप्त मात्रा में दवाई आदि होनी चाहिए। मोबाईल टॉयलेट वैन उपलब्ध कराने के निर्देश दिए गए थे।

कपकपाती ठंड ने बदला दिल्ली का मिजाज

नई दिल्ली,आकाश द्विवेदी। दिल्ली में शनिवार को पूरा दिन काफी सर्द रहा और न्यूनतम तापमान सामान्य से दो डिग्री अधिक 10.4 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया। मौसम विभाग ने भी एक, दो  दिन में हल्की बूंदाबांदी का अनुमान जताया है।कपकपाती ठंडक और  तेज हवाओं के कहर ने दिल्लीवासियों को घर से बाहर निकलने नहीं दिया। रविवार को अधिकतम तापमान 42.8 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया। आलम यह था कि जिन सड़को पर दिन में भी जाम लगा रहता था उन पर भी सन्नाटा पसरा हुआ था। । दिन में हल्की बूंदाबांदी और गरज के साथ बौछार पड़े  ।दिन का अधिकतम तापमान 19 डिग्री सेल्सियस के आसपास रहने का अनुमान है। सुबह 8.30 बजे वातावरण में 88 प्रतिशत आद्रता दर्ज की गई।

मौसम केंद्र के विज्ञानियों का कहना है कि फिलहाल बारिश की वजह से न्यूनतम तापमान में दो से तीन डिग्री सेल्सियस तक की गिरावट दर्ज की गई है। दिन में राजधानी और आसपास के इलाकों में हल्की बारिश होने से  रविवार को भी राज्य के कुछ हिस्सों में बारिश होने का अनुमान है। पश्चिमी विक्षोभ के कारण बंगाल की खाड़ी से उठने वाली हवाएं और हिमाचल पर जारी बर्फबारी का असर मैदानी इलाकों में बारिश के रूप में नजर आया।मौजूदा समय में मौसम में काफी नमी है और हवाएं भी नहीं चल रही हैं।आने वाले दिनों में तापमान में और गिर सकता हैं।मौसम के बदलते इस मिजाज के कारण स्वास्थ्य विशेषज्ञ भी चिन्तित है । विशेषज्ञों का मानना है, जाड़े से बचाव के लिए लोगों को सावधानी बरतने की जरूरत है।

MR. MANGU SINGH, MANAGING DIRECTOR/DMRC, CONFERRED WITH DOCTORATE DEGREE

The Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Mr. Mangu Singh, has today been conferred with the degree of honorary doctorate by a university in recognition of his outstanding work and leadership in the field of Metro technology in India.

The degree was conferred to Mr. Singh in a convocation ceremony at Noida by the Amity University, Uttar Pradesh. The University greatly appreciated the inspirational leadership of Mr. Singh and commended his pioneering strategies which have been fundamental to the rapid growth and unprecedented success of DMRC.  

Mr. Singh has contributed greatly in the project implementation of Metro in Delhi and Kolkata and has been responsible for bringing revolutionary changes in the execution of large Metro engineering projects (civil) within tight deadlines and budget and is considered the foremost tunneling expert and is also the President of the Tunneling Association of India (TAI).

He has introduced new technologies and innovative methods of construction of Metro tunnels and structures to achieve economy, safety, quality and speed of construction.  The credit for using Shield Tunnel Boring Machines and introducing New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) for the first time in the country goes to Mr. Singh.  

In addition, he has successfully headed the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects of Delhi Metro, the only such successful project in the Railway Transportation sector in the world. He has been instrumental in preparing the Master Plan and Detailed Project Reports for Metro system in other cities of the country like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Kochi, Jaipur, Ludhiana and Ahmedabad. 

His experience includes Rail based transportation projects, its planning & execution, procurement of works and services for Mega Projects on Design and Build Contracts basis, handling multilateral funding agencies, development of bid documents for Metro Projects on PPP basis, management of Concession contracts and CDM projects.

ONGC declares interim dividend of 100%; Notifies three discoveries

ONGC in its 264th Board meeting held on 12th December, 2014 has approved an interim dividend of 100%, paying Rs.5 per equity share of Rs.5 each. The total payout on this account will be Rs.4277.75 Crore out of which the Government of India will receive Rs.2948.08 Crore on its shareholding. In addition, dividend distribution tax of Rs.855.55 Crore would also be paid.

The Record date for the same has been fixed for 17th December, 2014 and the same has been intimated to the stock exchanges. The payment of interim dividend to the shareholders shall start from 18th December, 2014.   

The Board was also notified of the three discoveries made recently; one in deepwater Krishna Godavari Basin, off the east coast of the country, one in Mumbai offshore Basin, off the west coast of the country and one in Cauvery basin in the southern onland part of the country.

In KG Basin offshore, ONGC has made a significant gas discovery from its nomination deep water block, KG-OS-DW-III. The discovery well GD-11-1, located about 43 Km to the South of the nearest coastal town Odalarevu in the state of Andhra Pradesh, was drilled down to a depth of 2810m in water depth of 812m to explore the hydrocarbon potential of Pliocene sands. The Pliocene sequence has indicated the presence of about 36m of gas pay which, on conventional testing, has flowed gas at the rate of around 6.5 Lakh cubic meters per day through half inch bean. ONGC has already made 5 hydrocarbon bearing discoveries from the northward contiguous NELP-VI shallow water block of KG-OSN-2004/1 from a similar play and this discovery has opened up a large opportunity for further assessment of the prospectivity.

MANDOLI JAIL WILL BE COMMISSIONED IN LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER 14, JAILS IN NARELA AND BAPRAULA WILL ALSO BE OPENED

Delhi Government has granted licenses to security agencies 571 while 58 applications for getting license have been rejected & 321 application are pending due to non submission of NOC from the concerned Dy. Commissioner of Police, verification report of the applicant through special branch of Delhi Police, Verification report of applicant from district magistrate/ police, outside Delhi and decision on show cause notices to be taken. The Principal Secretary Home government of Delhi, Shri Arvind Ray, while giving details about the status of grant of licenses to the security agencies said that the objective of this exercise is to create and prepare a database of private security workforce in Delhi. 53 security agencies have filled in information in respect to 6259 guards. After all the licensed Security Agencies have furnished on-line information, we shall have database of approximately 65-70000 security guards in Delhi, which will be a great help to the government.

Giving information on NHRC references, Shri Ray informed that to streamline the monitoring of NHRC cases, the department has nominated nodal officers in all the Departments for taking up the NHRC cases and submission of their replies in time with requisite certificates/documents for insuring speedy disposal of the cases. He informed that out of 108 references/cases received from NHRC, the Delhi government has submitted replies/reports 55 cases while 53 cases are pending for submission of reply by Home Department. Apart from this 1000 NHRC references have been sent to different Departments for seeking their replies.

Shri Ray informed that a state of art training institute for skill development of fire protection and prevention will soon be constructed at Budanpur Majara in 72 Bigha piece of land. Apart from this the reconstruction of fire headquarter at Cannoughtplace has also been sanctioned. Giving details to media persons at the media center at Delhi Secretariat, Shri Ray informed that at present 56 number of fire stations are functional in Delhi and 06 new fire stations are being constructed. He said that  induction of 15 small fire fighting units have been made on Mahendra & Toyta vehicle for quick response in congested locality of the city. He informed that 05 numbers of 70 meter reach Hydraulic-platform have been procured from Finland. He said that 70% school buildings have been providing with fire safety NOCs while 06 Hospitals have been provided with such NOCs apart from Delhi Sachivalaya building. He said that computerization system has been ensured in all the fire stations while GPS system has been provided in all the fire fighting vehicle.

Giving information about the security system in jails and commissioning of new jails, Shri Ray informed that according to action plan to strengthen the security system in jails, CCTV cameras, mobile Phone Jammers & Security Poll Detectors have been provided. Under special measures for reformation and rehabilitations of prisoners, new initiatives have been taken such as opening of Semi open jails, on- campus placement of Tihar inmates, Music Rooms in Jails, Tihar inmates phone Calls inmate, Smart Card for jail inmates, launch of “Padho aur Padhao” at Tihar, Installation of Solar Water Heaters and Bio-fuel Plant, Opening of Art & Craft Gallery, Computer Centers in Jail, Sanitation and hygiene, Recreational Activities, Visit of Foreign delegates, Tihar Jail FM Radio, Yoga Meditation & Spiritual courses etc.

He informed that Mandoli Jail has been constructed as a modern state of art prison wherein 06 jails will be commissioned. The jail is being constructed at the area of 68 acres at the cost of 340.56 crore and with the capacity of 3776 prisoners. Jail Hospital with the complex with CCTV surveillance and Air-cooling system.

On prosecution subject, Shri Ray informed that total pending trial cases as on 31/10/2014 with the Directorate of Prosecution in MM Courts and Sessions Courts is 1,50,089. He said that steps have been taken for improving the efficiency of the Prosecuting officer in order to speedy disposal of criminal cases.

 Shri Ray informed about the progress of home guards and civil defence Department informing that the government has sanctioned 7200 vacancies home guards to serve as auxiliary to the police and to assist him to maintaining internal security. These home guards will also be utilized to assist the community in any kind of emergency like air raid, fire, flood, epidemics and so on, to organize functional units to provide essential services such as Motor Transport Unit, fire-fighting and engineering groups, pioneer services, nursing and First-aid, operation of water and pump supply establishments etc, to promote communal Harmony and to give assistance to the administration in protection of the weaker sections of the society, to participate in socio-economic and welfare activities such as Adult Education, Health and development schemes etc.

व्यापार व कर विभाग ने अबतक वर्ष 2014-15 में 11852.58 करोड़ रुपए की वसूली की

नई दिल्लीःआकाश द्विवेदी।फर्जी डीलरों और कर की चोरी करने वाले व्यापारियों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई करने के लिए दिल्ली सरकार के व्यापार एवं कर विभाग ने व्यापक अभियान चला रखा है। व्यापार एवं कर विभाग के आयुक्त  संजीव खिरवार ने बताया कि विभाग ने छापामार दस्ते बनाकर दिल्ली के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में कर की चोरी करने वाले व्यापारियों और फर्मों का पता लगाने और कार्रवाई करने के लिए भेजे। प्रवर्तन शाखा के अधिकारियों को शामिल कर बनाई गई विभिन्न निरीक्षण टीमों नेे पूरे शहर में छापेमारी कर करचोरों और फर्जी डीलरों का पता लगाया।

 खिरवार ने बताया कि विभाग कर की वसूली सुनिश्चित करने और धोखाधड़ी करने वाले व्यापारियों और कर चोरों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। उन्होंने कहा कि 05 फर्जी डीलर जो वर्ष 2013-14 में 73.25 करोड़ का फर्जी कारोबार कर रहे थे, उनके पंजीकरण प्रमाण पत्र रद्द कर दिये गये हैं। साथ ही साथ इस हफ्ते उनके द्वारा दर्शाए गए इनपुट टैक्स क्रेडिट 64.90 लाख रुपए को भी अस्वीकृत कर दिये गए हंै। आयुक्त ने ऐसे डीलरों की श्रृंखला का पता लगाने के लिए निर्देश दिए और दिल्ली वैट अधिनियम 2004 के प्रावधान के अनुसार सख्त कार्रवाई करने के निर्देश जारी किए हैं।

 खिरवार ने कहा कि अबतक, वर्ष 2014-15 में 11852.58 करोड़ रुपए कर की वसूली की गई है जो वर्ष 2013-14 के मुकाबले 712.58 करोड़ रुपए अधिक है। उन्होंने आगे बताया कि पिछले सप्ताह 45 निरीक्षण किए गए जिसमें 201.03 लाख रुपए का कर लगाया गया। इसके अतिरिक्त पहले पकड़े गए 51 वाहनों को मुक्त भी किया गया जिससे 29.82 लाख कर की वसूली की गई। उन्होंने आगे बताया कि आॅनलाइन रिर्टन (फार्म-09) को बढ़ाकर 09 जनवरी 2015 तक कर दिया गया है।

 खिरवार ने स्पष्ट किया कि धोखाधड़ी करने वाले व्यापारियों, फर्जी व्यापारियों, फर्जी फर्मों और करचोरों के विरूद्ध सरकार अपना अभियान जारी रखेगी और नियमों का उल्लंघन करने वाले व्यापारियों के विरूद्ध सख्त कार्रवाई करेगी।

NSDC Udaan announces yet another mega recruitment drive in Jammu

Udaan, a special initiative for Jammu & Kashmir, today announced its largest recruitment drive under the scheme that will take place in Jammu from 15th – 16th December, 2014. The drive will see over 25 large corporates heading to Jammu to recruit over 2000 graduates and post-graduates across a wide range of sectors, which include auto, retail, banking & finance, hospitality, education, IT/ITES and security.

Some of India’s largest corporations are participating in this massive recruitment drive.  Corporates like Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Genpact, IL&FS, Reliance HR Services, Accenture, Ratnakar Bank and others will be in Jammu to recruit fresh talent during this drive.

Under Udaan, participating corporates hire recruits, provide off-site training and upon successful completion of the training make job offers. Since inception nearly 10,888 youth of Jammu and Kashmir have been selected for Udaan.

The recent recruitment drive in Srinagar saw huge response from the youth in the state. Nearly 5,500 candidates turned out for the two day recruitment drive on 18th and 19th November, with 18 corporates making offers to nearly 2000 candidates. Overall, it was a successful, satisfying and win-win situation for both corporates and the youth of J&K.

India-Pakistan Trade: A Case Study of the Pharmaceutical Sector

ABSTRACT

This paper attempts to evaluate the possible gains and losses arising from the gradual opening up of pharmaceutical trade between India and Pakistan. We explain the comparative advantages of both countries at a disaggregated level, followed by a qualitative analysis of various perceptions and experiences of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical manufacturers with respect to trade with India. We find that a gradual opening up of pharmaceutical trade with India may allow Pakistan to enhance the quality of locally produced medicines through raw material, intermediate inputs, knowledge, and skills transfer from India. Pakistan, in the medium to long run, may also be able to diversify its pharmaceutical export base, reduce cost of production and achieve higher competitiveness through the development of value chain linkages with India. Such linkages are important to cater to the projected rise in demand for pharmaceuticals in Pakistan, Afghanistan and abroad.

North-East seven sisters overlooked despite Look-East-Policy: Vijay Jolly, Senior Advisor, GOPIO

North East “seven sisters” has totally been “overlooked” so far despite having a “Look East Policy” in place from last 20 years for South East Asian countries whose development is essential for greater economic ties with these countries, said Mr. Jolly, Senior Leader BJP & Senior Advisor, GOPIO at an ASSOCHAM event held in New Delhi today.

“For Act East Policy to succeed several initiatives must come up in North East India as it is perfectly positioned for trans-border trade with East-Asia be it Bangladesh, China, Bhutan and Myanmar”, said Mr Vijay Jolly, Senior Leader BJP & Senior Advisor, GOPIO while inaugurating ASSOCHAM 3rd India-ASEAN Round-Table Dialogue on Trade & Economic Cooperation. 

To Act on policies of East, North Eastern states must be at center stage of policy decision making. At present India’s total export volume is roughly $260 billion, the Northeast’s share is only about $0.01 billion. Now finally India under the leadership of PM Modi ji has struck the right chord with “seven sisters”, said Mr. Jolly.

Recent announcements of rail network, power infrastructure, apparel manufacturing centers, scholarship schemes and mooting the idea of Natural Economic Zone in the region can’t be seen in isolation. In nutshell for India to “Act East”, we have to rapidly act in the Northeast of India, added Mr. Jolly.

Some of the important steps in the pipeline as part of Act East Policy by Prime Minister emphasis on enhancing people-to-people contacts, augmenting trade besides reinforcing the strategic and political relationships. The plan is also to focus on security architecture in the region.

The Prime Minister of India is also very eager to tap the potential offered by the Buddhist pilgrimage circuit to attract more tourists from southeast nations. Given the fact that our North-East region is the gateway to ASEAN, there are efforts to create physical and economic corridors between the two regions. These measures are the part of the Act East Policy to increase aviation and shipping linkages, said Mr. Jolly.

The discussions are on for the implementation of four IT centers in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam which is a USD 8.7 million project.  Also we have C-DAC (Center for Development of Advanced Computing) to execute the project over a three-year period under supervision of Department of Information and Technology.

The capacity building and sharing expertise with ASEAN member states along with mutual cooperation in education, energy and environment, finance, pandemics management, disaster management and mitigation, connectivity, security, trade are the salient points of Act East Policy of Modi government in India, added Senior Leader BJP & Senior Advisor, GOPIO.

Trilateral highway that links India, Myanmar and Thailand through a 3,200 km long highway is one of the ambitious project involves India in its engagement with the ASEAN nations which is running behind schedule and now expected to be completed in 2018, said Senior Leader BJP. 

H.E. Mr Rizali W. Indrakesuma, Chairman of the ASEAN New Delhi Committee & Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia said, the volume of ASEAN intra-trade reaching to nearly 25% of total member states’ trade volume, and yet is still expected to increase by 40%. The steady growth of 10.5% intra-trade in two decades (1993-2013) was closing at the amount of US$ 608.6 billion (2013). While dialogue partner, such as China’s trade with ASEAN is reaching US$ 350.5 billion, with India is still standing at US$ 67.7 billion, mentioned Mr. Rizali.

ASSOCHAM Reaction: IIP numbers for October 2014

Apex industry body ASSOCHAM has expressed serious concern over the industrial production in October 2014.

The first quarter of the current fiscal has marked certain improvement in the index of industrial production, however, by the second quarter the improvement has turned into a mere uptick as the overall index of industrial production has recorded a growth of mere 1.1 percent in Q2 as against 4.1 percent in Q1.

"The projected 4.3 percent shrinkage in industrial output in October 2014 indicates that industrial deceleration has come back to challenge the policies of the policy makers," said Mr D.S. Rawat, Secretary General of ASSOCHAM.

"Now, there is an urgent need to see the improved business confidence converted into increased investment leading to healthier production activity," said Mr Rawat.

"A realistic assessment of the Government on what is hurting the indsutry and what is lacking is needed in order to see sustained industrial growth and achieve the objectives of ‘Make in India'," he added.
