Jamia Creates Impact Through Design

The Worldwide Design Exhibition titled “Impact Through Design” was inaugurated today at the famous M.F. Husain Art Gallery, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI. The Chief Guest was Mr. Naved Akhtar, a nationally renowned Creative Director.

This Worldwide Design Exhibition is a tribute to those eminent artists who made a mark in the world of Applied Arts, among them Late Mickey Patel, Late Pulak Biswas and Late Narendra Srivastava.

This exhibition is a culmination of Department of Applied Arts’ most impressive ideas of design that students of Bachelor of Fine Arts and Masters of Fine Arts have come developed. All design processes are guided by considerations for story, space and people that the young mind feels and wants to express. All designs are strong narratives that communicate both loudly and subtly with the visitors.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI appreciated the creative energy of the students and hoped that they would use their artistic expressions to generate awareness about the world and its challenges besides offering creative solutions to the existing problems. He admired the exhibits not only of the recognized artists but also of the post-graduate and under-graduate students.

Prof. Sadre Alam, Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts and Prof. Hafeez Ahmed welcomed the guests. Prof. Hafeez Ahmad highlighted the role of his faculty colleagues and students in putting up the Worldwide Design Exhibition which would continue until 4th of May, 2016.
