Guest Teachers lose jobs for participating in protests airing their grievances

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Sh. Vijender Gupta today strongly condemned in a letter to Sh. Manish Sisodia, Dy. Chief Minister that in a clear-cut case of victimization and undemocratic functioning highly objectionable on the part of a government department, the Directorate of Education of GNCTD has unfortunately terminated the services of a few Guest Teachers for participating in the protests, demonstrations and dharnas highlighting their grievances during earlier this month. The teachers were picked up on the basis of photographs showing them participating in protests appearing in various newspapers. The services of these teachers have been done away with only after the recent protests.  There was nothing on record against these teachers till date.   But after the protest, the administration has arbitrarily terminated their services on the most flimsy and fallacious grounds.

           To quote a few instances, Leader of Opposition pointed out that Sh. Rohit Sharma, Guest Teacher, TGT Sanskrit has been relieved w.e.f. 21.04.2016.  The order dt. 21.04.2016 issued by the Principal says that he stands relieved “on the directions of DDE N/E telephonically “.  It is strange that termination is carried out on telephonic instructions.  Further, Sh. Shakil Admed has been de-engaged w.e.f. 21.04.2016 “on account of ineffective in his work, dereliction of duty and misbehavior with officers, staff and students is not good” reads the order of the Principal issued on 21.04.2016.  Thirdly, the services of a Dalit teacher Parveen Kumar have been terminated for poor performance and remaining absent.   

           As these teachers have replied in their representations that during the entire period of their services spanning many years, there was no complaint against them on any count.  But after the protests, they became eyesores in the eyes of high-ups.

            Mr. Gupta strongly felt that grave injustice has been done to a number of guest teachers and their dependent family members. He demanded that their termination orders must be withdrawn with immediate effect.
