Special Staff, South District arrested 3 accused of notorious Thak-Thak Gang.32 cases of snatching and theft solved.

With the arrest of 3 criminals of notorious Thak-Thak Gang namely Yusuf, age 28 years, Anish @ Kala, age 30 years and Mohd. Amjad, age 22 years, all residents of District Meerut (UP), recovered one stolen car, one snatched mobile phone and solved 32 cases of snatching and theft. In view of spurt in the incidents of theft of mobile phones / valuables from the vehicles, Special Staff, South District was directed to keep sharp vigil in the area and deploy sources to get clues about the movements of criminals active in such criminal activities and arrest them. On 06-04-16, the hard work of police team bore fruit and credible information was received through a reliable source that 2-3 youngsters indulged in mobile phone thefts from the cars would go to Andrews Ganj to commit some crime in a stolen Santro Car. The team laid a trap at and around Andrews Ganj. At around 4 pm, the said car was stopped by the police team and nabbed 3 youngsters. On search, a mobile phone (make Samsung) was recovered from the possession of accused Yusuf. On verification, the said mobile phone was found to be snatched vide case FIR No. 152/16 u/s 379/356 IPC PS Malviya Nagar. After verification, the Santro Car was found to be stolen vide case FIR No. e-5669/15 u/s 379 IPC PS e-Police Station, Delhi. Accused persons disclosed that they used to place fake number plate on car to commit crime. Accused further disclosed to have procured the Santro Car from one Mehfooz, a resident of Meerut. The trio were arrested vide case FIR No. 127/16, dated 06/04/16 u/s 411/482/34 IPC PS Defence Colony and further investigation taken up. During interrogation, accused persons disclosed that they belong to poor families of Meerut and to earn quick money, they came in contact with one Mehfooz of Meerut and joined him in theft of mobile phones/valuables from the moving cars. Gang members used to divert the attention of driver by tapping the side window glass of car or by misleading the driver on the pretext of accident of his car. They further disclosed that they used to give the stolen stuff to Mehfooz who provide their share after disposing the stolen stuff. They have committed many incidents of mobile theft by using the same modus operandi in South Delhi. Accused Yusuf is previously involved in 12 cases of theft of PSs R.K. Puram and Nangloi. Accused Anis @ Kala is previously involved in 11 cases of theft of PSs S.J. Enclave, Mahendra Park, Sabzi Mandi and Adarsh Nagar. Accused Mohd. Amjad is previously involved in one case of theft of PS R.K. Puram.
