False reports being spread about languages being taught in classes IX & X



Some mischievous reports have been brought to the notice of the Directorate of Education, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, regarding the languages being taught in its schools in classes IX and X.
The Directorate makes it clear that NO change has been made in this regard for the current academic session, and all such reports are baseless, false and made with an intention to spread unnecessary confusion in the minds of parents and students.

All the schools under the Directorate of Education are affiliated to CBSE and they follow its Scheme of Studies and Examination Bylaws.
As per its scheme of studies for class IX & X for the Academic Session 2016-17, a student can opt any two languages out of the following:-
Hindi, English, Punjabi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Oriya, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Lepcha, Limbu, Bhutia, Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Nepali, Tibetan, Mizo
Students may offer any one of the following as an additional subject : Language other than the two compulsory languages ( offered as subjects of study)
The position was the same during the last Academic Session. No change has been made by the Directorate of Education GNCT of Delhi in this regard, either in the general scheme of studies or under the National Skills Qualifications Framework(NSQF) scheme.
