New Delhi, 28.04.16, Tawang,
Arunachal Pradesh faced incessant rain since 21st April causing
landslide on 22 April 2016 devastating effects in the Tawang District.

Battalion received the information and took immediate action to rescue the
people, stranded in a labour camp near a construction site. A Team of 23 personnel under the command of
an Assistant Commandant rushed to the spot equipped with ambulance and medical
staff. SSB team recovered 15 dead
bodies and one critically injured person from the debris. The injured was
evacuated to the Tezpur hospital but died on the way to hospital. Three teams of SSB were deployed at Nokmaiding,
Thongleng and Shau Basti villages. At Nokmaiding
village people were rescued to safer places, at Thongleng village, two dead
bodies of old couple recovered and four injured including a ten month old baby were
evacuated to District hospital Tawang. At
Shau Basti people were evacuated with their belongings to safer places and given
medical treatment. Besides SSB team of
23 personnel rescued people and their belongings at land slide sites at
different places between 21st and 23rd April 2016.

Shri Kiran Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister
of State for Home Affairs with local MLA Shri Tsering Tashi, Deputy
Commissioner Tawang, Zila Parishad Chairman and local leaders visited the site
and inspected the affected areas on 23rd April 2016.

Seema Bal also conducted special medical aid camps in the affected areas
besides rescuing people. The unprecedented
downpour and landslides shook the entire area surrounding Tawang and caused
heavy damage of life and property. It
also damaged the SSB Battalion Headquarter but SSB Jawans without taking care
of their personal losses rushed to the rescue & relief of the people of
Area.
