The SDMC’s parks helped Delhi in getting Green City recognition. A park at Janak Puri renamed as Lotus Park.

To commission open gyms in the two parks under each Ward.

       The SDMC is concentrating on the maintenance of 6416 parks spread over 1846 acres area.  The Corporation has taken a unique step to utilize recycled water in large quantity in the parks to make them green.  Today one of the parks under Ward No. 118 at Janak Puri C-4-E/11 was renamed as Lotus Park.  The renaming has been done with an aim to give new look to the park and enhance greenery.  Local M.P. Sh. Parvash Sahib Singh Verma unveiled the plaque of the renamed park.The Leader of House Sh. Ashish Sood and Chairperson Garden Committee Smt. Radhika Setia were present as guests of owner whereas the Councillor Smt. Rajani Mamtani presided over the function.

            Speaking of the occasion Sh. Parvesh Verma said that the SDMC’s parks have helped Delhi in getting Green City recognition.  The SDMC has started giving special attention on the maintenance of the parks; this need to be appreciated.  The parks not only facilitate children to play and grow but also help in keeping the residents including the elders fit apart from functioning as oxygen pipe line for one and all.  The MP Shri verma stated the parks will be developed in such way to inspire the residents to regularly visit for walk in the mornings and evenings.  The renaming of the park has paved the way of its improvement and development. Shri Verma further stated that the greenery in the parks play an important role in containing pollution.

            While addressing the gathering Shri Ashish Sood stated that the parks in Janakpuri will soon become role model for other parks.  The SDMC has been trying an alternative of recycled water for making parks green after ban imposed on the use of boring water for this purpose.  A number of small ETPs have been installed near the drains to provide recycled water in the parks.  Recently a major hotel in Vasant Kunj has started releasing one lakh liter recycled water for free from its ETP for the parks of the SDMC around Vasant Vihar.  More such hotels are being brought under the ambit of similar MOU with the SDMC.  Shri Sood stated that the corporation is in the process of setting up open gyms in the two parks under each ward.  The corporation has been working overtime to accelerate the process of development in its entire area.
