New Delhi, 26th April। More than 3000 people were surveyed today on Odd Even scheme giving their opinion on whether they think the scheme is a success or a fail. Led by \MP Vijay Goel, LokAbhiyaan volunteers surveyed people from all classes at Rajiv Chowk Metro station that included commuters who use the metro, car, two wheelers etc. People filled the form quite enthusiastically. Mr. Goel said the survey will last 2 days and a report will be given on 29th April. Goel asked Kejriwal government that due to the fear of fine of Rs 2000 30% people have bought a second car and old and scooters have also been sold out. Nobody is thinking that when the scheme terminates on 30th, either these new vehicles will increase traffic or add to the existing parking woes of the city. These vehicles will be parked on the roads, which will cause traffic jams. Thus, after the 30th traffic will increase by 30%, what would happen to the commuters then? Goel shared the views of a student whom he himself surveyed: according to the student the scheme is a failed scheme as pollution has increased, traffic hasn’t decreased and even auto drivers are over charging. The students answered “yes” to the last question that asked whether he wants the scheme to be a permanent feature. Hence, we asked him why does he want it permanently despite it being a failed scheme? To which the girl answered that instead of a 15-15 day hassle, it was better to adjust life according to the scheme if it is implemented permanently. Addressing the volunteers Goel said that it would be the biggest failure to watch how much traffic jam is caused post 30th due when the additional cars bought by 30%-40% of commuters get on the road. When this happens AAP leaders will claim that traffic was less during the odd even scheme. Whereas the reality is that due to the ineffective implementation of the scheme 30-40% of people have bought a second car and thus doubling traffic problems. Moreover, there is already a severe parking crisis in the city and when these additional cars also ply on the roads then traffic congestion will obviously increase. Mr. Goel said on the 27th of April Delhi- Noida border, Saket Metro station, Bhajanpura, Madhubanchowk, DurgapuriChowk, Nangloi, M Block GK1, Dr. MunjeChowk, Pahadganj, Shashtrinagarchowketc, locations will be surveyed.
