NEW
DELHI,AKASH DWIVEDI —Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken
and ex-MP Sajjan Kumar said
the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP were responsible for the stalled development
works in Delhi. They said the BJP is in power at the MCDs and at Centre, and
the AAP is ruling in Delhi, but for the past 25 months, all the development
works in Delhi have come to a total halt, as both the AAP and BJP were clashing
against each other with little time left for them to concentrate on the
development works in Delhi, which has put back the development of Delhi by at
least 20 years.
Addressing
a “Samarthan Sabha” at Valmiki Chaupal at Nawada Village today, Ajay Maken
said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had promised to eradicate corruption,
were now presiding over one of the most corrupt regims witnessed in the
country, as corruption has hit the roof. He said over two dozen MLAs of AAP
have been booked for various offences, and many of them have also spent time in
jail, but Arvind Kejriwal was creating
such a false halo of honesty around him to betray the people of Delhi. He said
the people of Delhi have now understood the real character of the AAP party,
and in the coming MCD bye-elections, they would teach a bitter lesson on the
AAP and the BJP.
Despite
unbearable heat, thousands of people from Nawada Village, Shyam Park, Om Vihar,
Mohan Garden and surrounding areas started assembling at the Nawada metro station under the
leadership of ex-MLA and senior Congress leader
Mukesh Sharma from 3 p.m. Congress workers, assembled at all sides of
the Nawada metro station, shouted slogans such as “Congress Party Zindabad”, “Samay hai
parivarthan ka—Congress ke samarthan ka”, “Satpal Sethi Ayega, ruka vikas shuru
karayega”, etc. At 4 p.m, DPCC president
Ajay Maken, Sajjan Kumar, Mukesh Sharma and Congress candidate Satpal Sethi, along with thousands of
Congress workers, marched through various colonies of the Nawada Ward before
reaching Valmiki Chaupal at Nawada village, where people from the Nawada
village and surrounding areas had already assembled. The local people were
angry that despite the local MLA hailing from the Nawada village, he has not
initiated even a single project for the
development of the Nawada village and
the surrounding areas for the past 15 months, and the only Government
dispensary at the Nawada village was
shut by the AAP Government at the behest of the MLA. Though the BJP and AAP
candidates for the MCD bye-election for the Nawada ward belong to the area, the
local people were totally disillusioned with them. The local panchayat and
people of 36 stake holders of the society from the area also passed a
resolution against the local MLA, and decided to unitedly support the Congress
candidate.
DPCC
president Ajay Maken said both BJP and
AAP were against the people of
unauthorised colonies and villages. He said ever since the AAP and BJP
came to power, development works in unauthorized colonies have been stopped. He
said the AAP Government has not
regularized even a single unauthorized colony. He said both AAP and BJP were
playing politics with the people of
unauthorized colonies, making their life miserable. Maken appealed to the local people to vote for the Congress candidate in the MCD
bye-election from the Nawada Ward, and elect
him with a thumping majority.
Senior
Congress leader and ex-MLA Mukesh
Sharma said after witnessing huge response for the “Samarthan Sabha” and
“Samarthan Rally”, it has become very
clear that Congress candidate Satpal
Sethi will win the MCD bye-election with a huge margin, and resume the stalled
developments works in the area. Sharma
accused the local MLA for stalling work on a 200-bed Government hospital at
Mohan Garden, and for the encroachment of the Power Grid land, as the MLA was
keeping a blind eye on these issues.
Sharma said sewer was not functional, and the roads and nallas were
broken with filth lying all around, creating an unbearable atmosphere, as
sanitation work has come to a total standstill. He said the old people, widows
and handicapped were not receiving their pensions. Sharma told
the local people that during the Congress rule, there was all-round
development in Delhi. He appealed to the local people to vote for the Congress candidate and teach the AAP and the
BJP an unforgettable lesson for betraying the people.
