To
exhort Delhi Govt. to release Plan Funds; employee’s salaries to be released in
time.
The SDMC Mayor Shyam Sharma today expressed his deep concern
over unauthorized constructions in the localities coming under the jurisdiction
of the Corporation. While reviewing the
functioning of the various departments in a high level meeting Sharma asked the HODs to ensure compliance of
rules and regulations and work in tandem to make the SDMC areas more
developed. The meeting was attended by
the two Addl. Commissioners- G.S. Meena,
and Meeta Singh apart from HODs of
various departments. Sharma expressed surprise that unauthorized
constructions are still on despite the process of sanctioning of the building
plans have been simplified apart from a high level transparency in the
department concerned. The things are
moving fast in the SDMC. The delay in
deciding the cases is being taken seriously.
He asked the department concerned to take immediate action to curb the
activities of unauthorized constructions.
Such unplanned expansion, construction and haphazard growth are going to
eclipse the beauty of the city apart from creating hassles in providing
amenities. The Mayor exhorted the
persons involved in such activities to put a break otherwise the SDMC will be
forced to take strict action. The Mayor
also stated that any nexus involved in such activities will be brought to the
books. He added that the SDMC is keen to
encourage planned growth; hence it will have to mull an action plan to overcome
such activities in case the scale of unauthorized goes up substantially.
Sharma also discussed the issue of delay in
release of the plan funds for the year 2016-17 by the Delhi Govt. to the
SDMC. The Mayor was apprised of the
present status of funds availability and the delay in releasing the funds. Sharma
made it clear that he is not interested in making the issue political but the
SDMC is in the need of the funds. The delay is affecting developmental works in
unauthorized/resettlement colonies and release of salaries to the employees and
pensions to the elders. He assured that
the employees will get their salaries in time.
The Mayor added that he will not hesitate in personally taking up the
matter with Delhi Govt. It may be recalled
that an amount of Rs. 13344 lacs has become due from Delhi Gov. under Plan
Heads first installments. The
installment was to be released in the month of April 2016. The delay is affecting the functioning of the
Urban Development, Transport, Rural Development, Education and Medical Sectors
Sharma appealed to the citizens to keep the
city clean by developing cleanliness as part of their daily habits. The corporation has decided to further
educate the citizens and students about the importance and relevance of
cleanliness by inserting advertisement and on other media.
