Delhi government on World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Global Urban Ambient Air Pollution Database update 2016

The latest air pollution data of different cities across the world released by the WHO indicates a definitive positive trend for Delhi.The decline in air pollution levels in Delhi is a collective effort and the government is committed to continue the war against air pollution with active cooperation of the residents of national capital. According to information provided by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee scientists, important factors behind the reduction in air pollution measurements for Delhi during the last one year are :  Increased awareness about pollutant availability of the pollution related data in public domain, concrete action to control emissions from construction activities and control on industrial emissions.The city wise WHO database for May 2016 shows Delhi is ranked 24th on the basis of PM10 concentration, while on the basis of PM2.5 rank of Delhi is 11th.In comparison, the 2014 ranking of Delhi was at 8th and 1st respectively, for PM10 and PM2.5 pollution levels.Delhi government thanks the WHO for a comprehensive report on air pollution, which includes 175 South East Asian cities of nine countries.
