DPCC PRESIDENT AJAY MAKEN CONDEMNS ATTACK ON CONGRESS CANDIDATE FOR THE MCD BYE-ELECTION FROM MATIALA WARD No 136 SUDHA SINHA

NEW DELHI, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president  Ajay Maken today strongly condemned the attack on Congress candidate for the MCD bye-election from Matiala Ward No 136    Sudha Sinha and sought immediate action against the culprits. According to an FIR registered at the Bindapur Police Station in South West Delhi following a  complaint filed by  Sudha Singh, four persons in two motor cycles followed her when she was travelling from Dwarka to Nanhe Park for a public meeting, and stopped her Scorpio vehicle near Malhotra Tyre factory and tried to attack her. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she did not pull out of the election fray. She has  sought police protection following threats to her life.

Maken said the culprits should be brought to book forthwith and punished for attacking and abusing the Congress candidate. He said in a democracy elections should be fought on issues, instead of threatening and coercing the rival candidate. He said the candidates of other parties were feeling apprehensive at the overwhelming support of the people for the Congress candidate. He said the Congress party was fighting the MCD bye-elections on issues affecting the people, and not by making personal allegations at rival candidates as the Congress party believed in democratic fights, and not in creating personal conflicts.

Maken said the attack on  Sudha Sinha has proved that women are not safe in Delhi, even if she is a  political figure, which shows the complete break down of law and order under the dispensation of the AAP and the BJP.  Maken demanded that those who attacked  Sudha Sinha should be brought to book immediately.
