United
we stand, divided we fall. May we request our people to rise against the drugs
, drug traders and evil forces , supporting them. defeat them OR Get doomed.

Substance
use disorders have become rampant in the State of Punjab, causing substantive
loss to the persons, the family, the society, and the state. The situation is
likely to worsen further if a structured approach is not put in place for
creating awareness and sensitizing the society.
The
main reason is lack of will on behalf of the administration, proper education
and awareness. Then there is the issue of easy availability of drugs at
relatively cheap prices.
The
other causes are unemployment, lack of education and other social issues, which
are responsible for the rising drug addiction in Punjab. Farmers are not
getting the right prices of their crops. Their crops are not getting sold at
the right time. They are being exploited by traders financially. As a result,
farmers cannot payback their loans. This causes frustration, sadness, which
leads to suicides.
Many
addicts say that they started taking drugs because their good friends forced
them or cajoled them gradually into trying drugs at least once, and then they
get hooked to the drugs. Peer pressure is an important factor which should be
handled with cooperation of parents, teachers, elders and village panchayats.
The
Fateh Foundation, Dorf Ketal Group and Muktangan Mitra collectively has
developed this project after conducting detailed study of the current scenario,
critical and exhaustive look at the existing guidelines, policies, books, web
resources, government documents, and ground reality in terms of existing
infrastructural and manpower resources, and keeping pragmatism and
practicability in mind.
With
the above as an initial aim, the Fateh Foundation has created a team of 30
dedicated community counselors by giving them an extensive training by a group
of experts from the Muktangan Mitra, Pune and with the local help in the
District of Tarn Taran which is primarily concerned with demand reduction,
particularly that part which is concerned with awareness, sensitization, identification
and referral of substance users.
After
successfully implementing door to door sensitization program, drugs
de-addiction awareness in community through ongoing street plays and through
pictorial canvassing in every village, people have started to come forward for
seeking guidance, help and treatment and many more villages are demanding these
programs in their villages for their better future.
Fateh
Foundation has started O.P.D. services which include Counseling, Medical Tests
and Psychiatric Medication. These services have been started in February, 2016
and in a period of 12 weeks have crossed 300 OPD patients. The drug addicts and
victim families are provided with free transport, free guidance, free support
and positive advice by Fateh Foundation. In addition to the above, drug addicts
are provided with free medical tests,
medicine and medical consultation.
The
cost is borne jointly by Fateh Foundation and Dorf Ketal. In order to eliminate this evil with a multi
directional approach, we once again request our people to rise against the
drugs , drug traders and evil forces supporting them. In that joint approach is being actively
considered and pursued. We are seeking the cooperation of the families of the
victims and cooperation of the local administration.
We
are envisaging that our drug de-addiction awareness, treatment and
rehabilitation program that have been tailored for the well being of the drug
addicts with substance dependent will bring massive behavioral changes among
them. This will reduce the demand of illicit drugs considerably and soon it
will bring back the faded glory of Punjab.
